TODAY’S CREATIVE LOVING PROFILE
The S.N.A.P. Series is bringing something fresh to The Players with Letters to Sala. This staged reading depicts the true story of Sala Garncarz Kirschner, a courageous woman who survived for five years in seven different Nazi labor camps and managed to hold on to more than 350 letters, photographs and a diary all through the horrific experience. She never mentioned anything to her three children until the eve of her heart surgery in 1992, when she presented the letters to her daughter Ann. The play by Arlene Hutton is based on the book Sala's Gift written by Ann Kirschner. The letters reveal Sala through the eyes her sister, a boyfriend, and a woman in the camp who looked out for her. 8 p.m. Thurs.-Sat., Nov. 12-14 and 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 15, The Players Theatre, 838 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, 365-2494 or theplayers.org, $18, $12 for students.
