TODAY’S CREATIVE LOVING PROFILE
No doubt you've seen them around town recently, sizing up dumpsters and telephone poles, holding their fingers in the air to test the wind and kneeling down to read the break of the pavement. "Why are those guys throwing tennis balls down the street?" you ask yourself. The answer: Bolf. A slightly dangerous, highly enjoyable adaptation of golf, bolf is a sporting pursuit for the common man. All you need is a ball, an arm and the urban landscape. Courses are designed on the fly, with holes decided upon as you go. Anything will do -- telephone poles, trees, fire hydrants -- as long as it's not personal property. Scoring works the same way it does in golf, with pars, birdies and bogeys. Play nine or 18, but please be careful: Motorists are not yet familiar with the game. Stick to residential neighborhoods or parks, and always look both ways before you swing -- er, throw.

i have enjoyed this simple, yet challenging game, and i've got 2 words for you : tennis elbow. the game quickly loses any lure after hole 3- when, after trying to chuck a 5 oz tennis ball 200 yards, it feels like i've dislocated my elbow.
